Art has always been the best way for me to communicate that which cannot be verbalized to others. Painting has always been the most gratifying and rewarding form of creative self-expression for me.
“A painter is one who paints” – it’s that simple. I continually study the methods, execution, history and theories surrounding this medium. After several decades of practice, exploration, and growing through my work, I am still learning more every day.
Many of the portraits and paintings of nature & light shown here were commissioned pieces from photographs and I continue to welcome additional commissions anytime. Sizes and prices vary. Any inquiries can be directed to kathymcdowell@hotmail.com
Although my recent subject focus has been portraiture, I see my work heading in a new direction of abstract landscapes and hope to make my place among the greatest of contemporary artists with this endlessly satisfying art form.
Beyond painting, I have also studied/practiced drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, film, graphic design, jewelry, and art theory and plan to continue to explore these aspects of art throughout my life.
